My degrees were obtained from the University of the Witwatersrand. I started my articles of clerkship in 1984, and was admitted as an attorney in 1986. In September 1990 I was admitted as an advocate and in December of the same year I started practice as an advocate and member of the Cape Bar society of advocates of the High Court of South Africa. (I was a member, continuously, of the Cape Bar from 1990 until January 2019.)
I was appointed as Small Claims Court Commissioner for Wynberg in December 1993 and am still a Commissioner there.
During 2002 I qualified as an arbitrator (after having successfully completed a course conducted by the Arbitration Forum) and was also appointed (by the Office of the Family Advocate in Cape Town) as ad hoc Family Advocate.
I qualified as a mediator during 2015 (having completed a 5 day course conducted by Equilore) and have recently completed a ‘refresher’ mediators’ course run under the auspices of the Legal Practice Council.
I also recently completed the General Course on Intellectual Property conducted by the World Intellectual Property Organisation, or WIPO.
